I used to want God to tell me EVERYTHING I was supposed to do. I was deathly afraid of screwing it up. This applied to big decisions and even small tasks. I would pray, “Lord what do you will?!,” in an extremely anxious mindset. He was patient with me and kindly answered in ways that lead me to understand that He desires to be in relationship with me, which meant I can name things I like too, and choose things and take steps WITH Him.

 

 

    He loves co-creating with us! Which requires working together. Yes, He’s the amazing all-knowing leader, but He’s kind and caring and wants our hearts to be heard and seen and known. He wants to dance with us, in many ways, not order us around. Of course we’re called to follow the commands for the good of our salvation and to remain close to Him, yet we must not get caught up in fear over making a mistake at every step that we never actually choose, we leave the canvas Blank, so to speak, and sit there shaking in our boots.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Like when I am painting, if a poor brush stroke happens, it can be wiped away, or if it’s been there for too long, it can actually be turned into something new, something even more beautiful. If I never put a single brush stroke on the canvas, because I was afraid, imagine what would have never been created. The key is always inviting God in to create together. Letting the master artist help you see better, of course, but being ok with painting that brush stroke is necessary too.  If we’re a praying people, confess regularly, and go to communion, we can bet our desires are near to the Lord and are good. If we don’t fall under those categories right now, then we should seek to align our hearts to the Lord’s first, yet again, he always going to want you to be a part in the choices and steps.

 

 

 

 

 

So, let’s remember to get up and dance WITH Jesus and be not afraid but simply gaze into His loving eyes that simply say, you are loved and I’m with you, We are one. If you make a mistake, I got your back and we will make it right again!
