Heaven Is Fighting for Me

A personal reflection on sacred art by Becca Gray

 

I was experiencing quite a dark season. I was fighting to keep the faith but also feeling very lost. I felt like a ball of confusion. I knew deep down that the Church was real, but at the same time, I was lost in this lie that it wasn’t for me.

 

On a particular day when I was feeling so discouraged, I came across Visual Grace. I remember spending over an hour watching the videos, looking at the art, and something in my heart was brought to life. In the midst of darkness, light penetrated my heart. It was a moment of hope.

 

I kept persevering in faith and finding myself more frustrated than ever, but I didn’t lost hope. I would constantly turn to art—especially visual grace. The one image that captured my heart was the image of Saint Michael.

 

In this image, I saw myself in the girl. I was the girl trying to hold onto the faith. When I saw this photo, I realized how real Saint Michael is—that I was not in this battle alone. Heaven was fighting with me.

 

By the powerful and relentless love of Jesus, I was guided to a Church one night, and that night I was made new. Everything I had prayed for and hoped for became a reality.

 

That night, I realized Heaven was fighting for me all along, and that night they won my heart big time.
