Seeking Healing in Him

Healing happens in many different ways in many different moments and on many different levels throughout our lives. God continues to reveal ways that we are needing to be made new… things that must die and be brought back to life, things that are needing to be seen from a different angle, things that are seemingly lost that are to be rediscovered. He is constantly reminding us to arise once again, to come out of darkness and into the light, to be made new.

Healing is a process that is usually done layer by layer in our hearts. In Mark 5:41, Jesus says, “Talitha koum!”, which translates similarly to “little one, arise”. This Gospel reminds of the many times God has spoken these words to me, ‘Arise.’ Today I hear him say them to me again, but in a different way than before as the journey continues. He is calling to the parts of our hearts that must be awakened and made new. He calls “arise” to the parts of ourselves we have forgotten, lost, or closed off to him. It’s wonderful to know that at every moment that it seems something has died, we are in fact being invited into a new way, a new life, a fuller version of ourselves. We are called to be made new and called to healing in him.

Today, as you read this scripture, imagine Jesus speaking this to you too, “little one, arise,” and ask him, in what way are you calling life into me today, Lord? How do you wish to make me new again? And simply receive what he has to give.
