Lead with Beauty: How to promote beauty through your social media

In today’s technology focused society…

… it can be hard to find truth online. Much of what the world may define as beautiful, is found on major social media platforms, and is shared to draw attention to yourself.  It is important that we find ways to use social media as a tool for promoting, encouraging, and sharing True Beauty with others. Beauty is unarming; enabling people to receive grace and long for the beautiful. This can not only call others to truth but transform the culture we interact with online. We have all been challenged to seek out and engage with beauty and draw attention to the Divine!

…and here are some ways to do it:

 Finding Resources!

Once you decide to share beauty, you must first find what beautiful things you would like to share. Look to  artists, creators, and musicians, that inspire and uplift you. Looking for beautiful images when you spread information, choosing beautiful songs when you celebrate, or searching for content created by beauty-seeking individuals is a good place to start. Always remember to credit those whose beauty has inspired you and don’t be afraid to create some of your own!

Drawing People to Truth

Keep in mind that many who will see what you share may not know or have been exposed to True Beauty. Beauty can be a great way to draw others into truth in a way that is awe-inspiring and transformative. Everyone can recognize beauty, but not everyone can understand it. Remember your purpose, and help others understand your mission through your use of captivating beauty.

 Lead With a Beautiful Story

Call to mind the example of Jesus. He used parables to convey truths in a form that was familiar and relatable so his listeners could identify with his story. Rather than just stating facts, consider this practice, as a way to educate others of your beautiful truths. Use powerful testimonies from the faithful of the church, think of those you’ve encountered, or tell experiences from your own life that help communicate your message.

Share Sacred Works

Did you know you can help promote beauty by simply engaging with beauty online? Liking, sharing, and saving a sacred artists work on social media can make it more popular, and more likely to be seen by others! This simple action can support those creating beauty and allow more people to be touched by their beauty.

 Be Brave

It can be intimidating at first to share the good news with others, but when it comes to evangelization it is important to understand your impact. As Mother Teresa says, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”. Though you may not always see the effect you have, know that we all have a part to play in sharing and promoting the message of beauty.

 Virtue is Always Beautiful

Remember to remain virtuous before anything! In 1 Corinthians 13:1, it says “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal”.  Be mindful of your tone, and always communicate with the purpose of bringing others in to what is good and beautiful. Your love and kindness is the most beautiful message you can share.

Share the beauty of your own life!
