What to Do with Your New Sacred Art?

Bringing Sacred Art into your home is more than just decorating — it’s an invitation to grace. Sacred art can elevate your space, deepen your prayer life, and serve as a beautiful witness to others. Here’s how you can make the most of this powerful addition to your home or space of prayer:

1. Get it framed if it isn’t yet. A beautiful frame not only enhances the art but also protects it, allowing it to shine as the centerpiece it’s meant to be. (Check out this post for tips on framing!)

2. Discern well where you’ll hang it. Choose a place where it can be more than just decor—somewhere it invites contemplation and prayer. Make sure it’s in a safe spot where it won’t suffer from fading or damage. I.e. avoid over an active fireplace or an a/c vent.

3. Get it blessed. When your art is blessed, it becomes a sacramental, a tangible connection to the divine, inviting grace into your home. All you need to do is bring it your local parish to get a priest to bless it or better yet, have them come to the art!

4. Consider adding a candle, kneeler, or other items nearby. These items can create a dedicated space for visio divina (prayer with sacred art), encouraging deeper reflection and prayer before the image.

Let your art lead you to prayer!

5. Host a personal reveal party or a night of prayer gathered around the sacred art. Share the beauty of this art with others, whether through a prayer event or a casual wine and cheese night. This can be a powerful moment for evangelization helping others to encounter God through beauty too.

6. Feel called to share it with more people? Consider donating your sacred art to a local parish or faith center that could benefit from its beauty. We all ache for our parishes to be places where we feel the Divine more and this could be a tangible way to help make that happen!
